2019 was a breakthrough year for young producer and multi-instrumentalist, Taka Perry. Seeing the release of 3 acclaimed singles; debut release ‘Introspect’, follow up single ‘Kuruna’ featuring the now iconic Japanese rapper JP The Wavy and ‘21 Orbits’ featuring Ghanaian-born rapper Yaw and Unearthed High finalist yergurl, a single which landed him on the cover of Spotify Japan’s New Era: J-Hip Hop playlist.

After debuting his hypnotic live show in February of this year, Taka has been showcasing a series of #coronabeats made while in lockdown in his home studio, as well as flex his production chops on tracks like Sycco’s ‘Nicotine’; a track he co-wrote, produced, mixed and mastered.

Earlier this year Taka was crowned Unearthed Feature Artist and also called upon by triple j to undertake the somewhat daunting task of creating a beat in 30 minutes live on air. Check out the incredible result here.

With a full triple j addition for new single Only U ft. Gia Vorne, and a remix for Ruel’s Painkiller ft. Denzel Curry getting set for release, looks like 2020 will be another year full of breakthroughs.

“Taka is proving himself to be one of the most exciting rising producers on the scene right now, big fan of this.” – Nick Findlay, triple j

Over the last few years, we've grown to become champions of rising Sydney young-gun Taka Perry, who within the space of only three years, has gone from a SoundCloud account littered with quick-firing, forward-thinking electronica to a songwriter on the verge of becoming one of Australia's most exciting; the latter particularly shining through in 2019. – Pilerats

“This is seriously cool shit from Taka. I actually don't know where to start, it's all so sick!” – Declan Byrne, triple j
